The
following are the specifications and standards to which Vita Care
apply rustproofing products to those vehicles requiring AS 2662.2
Rustproofing & Mine Spec 3/5.Vita Care has been providing to
Automotive, Mining & Industrial companies, protection packages
as detailed below for 21 years and into companies such as Western
Mining, Sons of Gwalia, Cockburn Corefleet, Robe River, Roach Mining,
AWP Contracting, WA Fire Brigade, Rio Tinto, Henry Walker Eltin
etc.

The
Rustproofing product is Maxwell Chemicals XL 695 Cavity Anti-corrosive
Synthetic Waxes in Solvent, developed for the complete protection
of both "top and bottom" side vehicle areas. Applied as
a golden brown undiluted mobile fluid, XL 695 has been adjusted
in viscosity and flow to penetrate seam areas and also to be applied
to vertical and inverted surfaces without run off. XL 695 dries
to a firm but flexible film that will provide long term protection
to corrosion sensitive areas.

Application is by way of airless spray using various nozzles and
extension tips to those areas as per Australian Standard 2662.2
1988 Part 2, after the removal of such items as grill, front, rear
and side lights, inner door trims, scuff plates, wiper remote panel
and all body grommets etc, to ensure the treatment of all critical
Areas. The complete treatment to the underbody ensures that
all cavities and sub-frame components are thoroughly treated. The
standard build is recommended at 100 microns, Vita Care's use of
size 15 nozzles allows the build for Standard & Mine Spec 3/5
rustproofing to be between 250 and 300 microns.
In addition to the Australian Standard and to
give effect to Mine Spec 3,the following additional processes
are carried out to give maximum protection to internal panel, external
structural and component areas of vehicles working in severe conditions.
To
strip out from the interior of the vehicle, seats, floor pan coverings,
seat belts, all internal cover panels, roof pillar grommets and
covers, tool packs, jacks, consoles and all components as required
to allow total rustproofing coverage. The drilling of such grommet
holes as required to allow access to blind box sections for treatment.
This extends from the floor pan to the roof turret.
To treat the entire engine bay area including the underside
of the bonnet after the removal of the insulation cover. To provide
coverage to those additional build items as found on most Mine Vehicles
such as special tray backs, fire extinguisher brackets, tool boxes,
bull bars, Reece tow bars, water tanks etc.
The
replacement of those bolts for external door mirrors with stainless
steel bolts and spring washes after the external panel has been
rustproofed and taped under the mounting plates. The treatment of
seat rails and door lock mechanisms with CRC TAC2 for the prevention
of rusting and to provide long term lubrication. All external nuts,
bolts, hinges, brackets striker pads and latches, wheel nuts, hose
clamps, etc, which are not able to be protectively coated with XL
695 are coated with Penetrol to provide total protection to those
parts. Body seams, under door rubbers and window rubbers are treated
with Penetrol. Any components not removable are treated in place.
Roof support and windscreen box sections are treated by "Run
Down" application to give a thorough treatment to these areas
from top to bottom.
In summary, a complete cavity, structural and panel
coverage leaving only external painted body panels, eg: doors, bonnet,
roof and roof pillars, inner tray panels, glass etc untreated. On
completion of the above the vehicle is then thoroughly cleaned
and inspected for your delivery.
The combination of XL695, Penetrol and CRC Tac 22 along
with the very best application techniques and equipment will provide
the maximum protection in severe conditions.

Penetrol is a blend of natural oils with a penetration power 3 times
that of water, combined with a powerful bonding ability it is high
in solids and provides maximum sealing and protecting to
the most minute crevices and seams. Used world wide by shipping
lines and offshore exploration companies for corrosion protection.

An exceptional lubricant with tough adhesive qualities which bond
to wear surfaces and resist salt corrosion, hot water wash out whilst
providing continuing lubrication.

Forms a continuous non hardening molecular film which will give
long term protection for electrical systems operating in severe
conditions.

Minespec
5 incorporates all the above with the addition of Electro Shielding
for the protection of the wiring harness, electrical terminals,
junction boxes and components against the ingress of moisture and
salt. All electrical connections are then sealed at source and termination
with Denso Mastic.
The treatment of fixed window seals, all inner door seals, roof
gutters, wheel rims, studs and nuts, internal firewall with Penetrol.
Minespec 3/5 with the addition of the Computer
Corrosion Module.
This provides an excess of negative electrons through
transient pulsed computer technology. Should chipping or scratching
occur in the external paintwork, the over abundance of negatively
charged irons pumped throughout the grounding system are sacrificed
to the environment not the metal structure. These units are now
standard requirement in many Mining Company fleets for the protection
of the external surfaces of vehicles.
Dependant on operating conditions one or a combination
of the above specifications can be installed
Eg: Minespec 3, Minespec 5 with or without the Computer Corrosion
unit.
Vita Care can also supply polyurethane
installations to the vehicles inner floor pans, utility trays, kick
sills which may be required for underground or extreme surface operations.
